Our entire experience of the world depends on neurons talking to each other.Â
The LUTHLAB at Simmons University is an undergraduate-only research lab that explores how genes and the environment influence the survival and function of neurons, To do this, we use a small, but powerful ally: C. elegans, a microscopic worm that is an outstanding model system for neurobiology research.
Modern neurobiology experiments require a range of skills. Working with C. elegans allows us to easily combine molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, synthetic biology, and behavioral studies to answer our questions.
